A New Pill Against Obesity
Listen here
Americans who are worried about their weight can soon buy a pill without having to ask their doctor.
The pill, called Alli, is made by the pharmaceutical company GlaxoSmithKline.
The United States government approved the new drug on Wednesday.
Obesity (the condition of having excessive body fat) is a big problem in the United States.
Similar drugs have been available since 1999. However, people could only take them with the permission of a doctor.
Nevertheless, some doctors are skeptical that the new pill will work.
