A Teacher Travels in Space

Barbara Morgan was finally able to fulfill her dream.

Last Wednesday, she became the first teacher to fly successfully on a space shuttle.

Morgan has been waiting over 20 years for this occasion.

NASA tried to send teacher Christa McAuliffe into space on the Challenger shuttle in 1986. Tragically, the Challenger exploded - killing everyone onboard.

In addition to doing her astronaut tasks, Morgan will also interact with her students during her 11-day journey in space.
