A Postcard Has Arrived After 64 Years
Listen here
A postcard from a Japanese soldier in World War II to one of his fellow workers at a shop has finally arrived.
It was written in 1943 by the soldier who was fighting in Burma. The soldier died a year later.
The postcard was found by an American soldier who brought it back to his home in Arizona when the war had finished. The American soldier died in 1982, but his son, who later moved to Hawaii, kept the card.
The postcard was given to a Japanese exchange student in Hawaii this year. When the student returned to Japan, she delivered it person to the man to whom it was addressed 64 years earlier.
"I had never guessed I would meet him again like this. It was like a dream," the man said.
