Actor Kiefer Sutherland has started a 48-day jail term for drinking and driving.

"Mr. Sutherland is very polite and humble. He was very cooperative," said a spokesman for the jail.

Sutherland, who is the son of Canadian actor Donald Sutherland, stars in the American television series "24".
