Millions of people in nine European countries are now free to travel without having to stop at the border.
Border guards in Slovakia, Slovenia, Poland, Hungary, the Czech Republic, Latvia, Estonia, Lithuania and Malta will no longer check passports.
This is a big change for many of these countries. Twenty years ago, it was very difficult for citizens of these countries to travel to the West.
