Distant Relatives

Last October, we reported that Barack Obama was a distant relative of Vice President Dick Cheney.

It was revealed this week that the Democratic candidate for president is a 10th cousin of the current president, George W. Bush, as well.

Obama is also distantly related to actor Brad Pitt.

Meanwhile, Obama's opponent Hillary Clinton, can count Angelina Jolie among her distant relatives.

Words

relative: a person who is connected to another through blood or marriage.

candidate: a person who is trying to be elected to a political office, i.e., mayor, prime minister, president.

opponent: a competitor in a game or contest.
