April Fool's Day 2008

Listen here

Tuesday was April Fool's Day, a day in which people try to trick others into believing something that is not true.

Here are some of the jokes which were played yesterday:

- WestJet, a Canadian airline, said passengers can sleep in the overhead luggage compartments by paying an extra $12.

- The Independent, a British newspaper, wrote that a chef would not allow people to swear in his restaurants. If they did, then they would have to pay a fine.

- The Sun newspaper reported that French President Nicolas Sarkozy is going to see a doctor who could make him 12 centimeters taller.

- Simple English News also tried an April Fool's joke with this story.

Words

to trick: to play a joke on somebody, to fool someone.

to swear: to use bad language.
