The 2008 Olympics began with an unforgettable opening ceremony.

The ceremony included fireworks, music and the lighting of the Olympic torch.

More than 90,000 people - including many world leaders -- gathered at Bird's Nest Stadium in Beijing, while billions of people watched it on television.

Many people are calling it the best opening ceremony in the history of the Olympics.

The Olympics started on August 8, 2008 or 8/8/08. The number "eight" is considered lucky in China.
