Tesco Has Changed Its Signs Because of Grammar

Signs at Tesco, the British supermarket chain, will no longer read "ten items or less".

Some grammarians have argued that the signs at the checkout line should read "Ten Items or Fewer".

In the end, Tesco decided to have the signs read "up to ten items".

chain: a number of business with the same owner.

grammarian: a person who studies grammar.

checkout: a counter where customers pay at a supermarket.
