A Tribute to Nelson Mandela
Nelson Mandela inspired many people during his lifetime.
Despite spending 27 years in prison, as a result of his opposition to apartheid in South Africa, his message was one of reconciliation and not vengeance.
Shortly after his release from prison, Mandela became the first black president of the country.
He was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 1993.
reconciliation: bringing back of friendly relations.
vengeance: the act of doing something bad to someone because he or she did something wrong to you or someone else.
