The Children’s Railway of Budapest

Listen here

The Budapest Children's Railway operates throughout the year.

There is a railway in the Hungarian capital that is unlike any other you may have seen.

The Children’s Railway in Budapest is operated by kids from ages 10 to 14.

Children conduct, sell tickets and pull switches and signals.

The children’s railway was started during the Communist period as a way to introduce young people to work.

You can read more about the railway in an article that Sam Margolis from Simple English News wrote for Hemispheres, the magazine of United Airlines.
