The big event of the day was the men’s 100-meter sprint.
Usain Bolt of Jamaica did not disappoint the crowd who watched at Bird’s Nest Stadium in Beijing. He proved that he is indeed the world’s fastest man.
Bolt dashed to the finish line in 9.69 seconds — a new world record.
sprint: a race at full speed.
to dash: to move, run quickly.
