Europe’s Christmas Markets

Listen here

As the chilly air of early winter arrives, Europeans head outside, to the Christmas markets that can be found throughout the continent.

There they peruse the goods available, sip on mulled wine and think about what gifts to give their friends and family for the holidays.

The markets, which are especially popular in Germany and Austria, date back to the 14th century.

They usually open at the end of November or the beginning of December.
