As the weather starts to get colder in many parts of the Northern Hemisphere, this is the time of year during which people are more likely to suffer from common illnesses, such as colds and flu.

An article on the ABC News website in 2008 listed several foods that can help prevent colds and boost a person’s immune system.

Garlic, ginger, broccoli, pumpkins and oysters were among the foods mentioned that can reduce the chances of sickness.

Furthermore, a diet rich in fruits and vegetables is always a good way to avoid being sick.
