Grammar: Possessive Adjectives


my toys            (I)                                our house         (we)

your car         (you)                              your things       (you)

his money        (he)                              their flat           (they)

her keys           (she)

its name           (it)

– these possessive adjectives  can never be on their own and must always be followed by nouns

He often talks about his success.

Take your books.

its is used before nouns which do not describe persons

car                       – its speed

company             – its branch


– articles cannot be used if a noun is preceded by possessives
