Layered Potatoes (Rakott Krumpli)
This is a dish that is served regularly in Hungarian homes — though there are several variations on the recipe.
If you have a recipe for other dishes from your country, please send it to us.
Ingredients
1 1/2 kilograms of potatoes (about 3.5 pounds)
200 grams of mildly spiced paprika sausage
10 eggs
a cup of sour cream
Instructions
Boil the potatoes and the eggs. Slice each so they are about a third of an inch thick. In a casserole dish, place a layer of sliced potatoes at the bottom, then set a layer of eggs on top of them, then a layer of sausage. Coat with sour cream. Repeat this process until all the ingredients are used. Place in the oven at medium-high temperature for about 45 minutes to an hour.
(Note: some cooks place a layer of potatoes above the sausage — before coating the top with sour cream.)
