Luciano Pavarotti Has Died

Luciano Pavarotti, the famous Italian tenor, passed away last night at age 71. He had been suffering from pancreatic cancer.

Pavarotti was recognized throughout the world for this talent and charisma. He helped bring opera to millions of listeners who might not otherwise have listened to it.

Pavarotti’s career lasted over 40 years. In the 1980s, he and fellow tenors Placido Domingo and Jose Carreras performed together. They sold millions of albums.

“He set a standard that will remain with us for decades to come,” said conductor
Zubin Mehta.
