“Mad About English” is a new film by Singaporean director Lian Pek.

The film tells the story of how the people of China have been studying English in recent years — especially as the country prepared to host the Olympics.

It shows how taxi drivers, policemen and retirees are all trying to acquire a better knowledge of English. In one scene of the film, the viewer sees 10,000 people studying English from one teacher at the same time.
