Savonlinna, Finland

Savonlinna is a small city in southeastern Finland which is surrounded by water.

Its name in Finnish means “Savo’s Castle”. Its Swedish name is Nyslott, which means “new castle”.

The city is well known to fans of classical music for its annual opera festival.

The special food of the area is a meat pasty called “lörtsy”.
