Stop Cigarette Litter

73

Listen here

Everyone knows that littering is wrong.

Yet, there are some smokers who insist on throwing cigarette butts into the street, the sidewalk, the grass, the water – in other words, anywhere but an ashtray.

Cigarette butts are ugly. What’s more, they have a negative impact on the environment.

If you are a smoker, then be responsible and dispose of your cigarette butts appropriately.

Words

litter:  rubbish, waste material.
cigarette butt: the filter end of a cigarette that you throw away after you have finished smoking.

  1. There’s a website dedicated to international news and information about litter and littering. It’s for everyone who wants to reduce the rate of littering. If all those people made their views about littering known (in a nice way) there would be less littering. It’s time that the non-littering majority the world over spoke up. Visit often. It’s free.

  2. Hi Sheila,

Thanks for sharing an interesting website about littering. Unfortuantelly, this problem is just growing. And even worse we, at a local council of the town Sliac in Slovakia, have to deal with illegal hazardous dumping almost on regular basis.

  3. I am very sympathetic to this writing.
I felt terrible when I saw the street which was littered with cigarette butts.
It make a negative impact on the environment. And sometimes, an unattended cigarette is to be the cause of the fire. I think the smoker doesn’t smoke in the designated area is one of the reason why this problem is happened. They don’t think all street is their ashtray. I think they have to have shyness of their behavior and have to sense of responsibility to avoid harming another person.
