The Castle of Zvolen
Listen here
There are not many towns in which the main square ends at a chateau or castle.
However, it would almost be impossible not to notice “Zvolensky zamok” when strolling in the main square of the Slovakian town of Zvolen.
The chateau was used in the Middle Ages as a place for the Austro-Hungarian nobility to celebrate or just take a rest after hunting and fishing in local forests and rivers.
It now serves as the host for art exhibitions and theatre and music performances.
chateau: a large country house or castle.
nobility: the group of people belonging to the highest social class in a country, the aristocracy.
