The Eiffel Tower Goes Dark For Five Mintues

Listen here

On an ordinary day more than 20,000 lights at the Eiffel Tower go on when it starts to get dark in Paris.

However, on February 1 something unusual happened.

At 7:55 pm all the lights at the Eiffel Tower were turned off for five minutes. Likewise, Rome’s Colosseum and the Greek parliament in Athens were dark as well.

Millions of buildings and homes throughout Europe turned off their lights on Thursday night.

The lights were turned out across Europe before a report by international scientists about the effects of climate change.

Even the lights at the Hilton hotel in Paris where the scientists were having their conference went out.

When the scientists came out with their report on Friday they said the effects of global warming were very serious and that governments must do a lot more to stop it.
