The victory by the Iraqi national soccer team at the Asian Cup yesterday is one of the few pieces of good news the country has received recently.

However, the celebration was short-lived.

A bomb went off in Baghdad as people were celebrating. It killed 50 people and injured more than 130.

Iraq’s win means it will move to the final of the Asian Cup against Saudi Arabia.

Words

short-lived: not lasting long.
