English dictionaries will remove the word “curtain” from all future editions.
From now on curtains will be called “material that hangs in a window or other opening as a decoration, shade, or screen.”
“I am extremely happy that we have done this,” said Roger Dingle, the chief editor of the Oxford English Dictionary. “I always thought that ‘curtain’ was a very ugly word.”
