This is a dish that is served regularly in Hungarian homes — though there are several variations on the recipe.

If you have a recipe for other dishes from your country, please send it to us.

Ingredients

1 1/2 kilograms of potatoes (about 3.5 pounds)
200 grams of mildly spiced paprika sausage
10 eggs
a cup of sour cream

Instructions

Boil the potatoes and the eggs. Slice each so they are about a third of an inch thick. In a casserole dish, place a layer of sliced potatoes at the bottom, then set a layer of eggs on top of them, then a layer of sausage. Coat with sour cream. Repeat this process until all the ingredients are used. Place in the oven at medium-high temperature for about 45 minutes to an hour.

(Note: some cooks place a layer of potatoes above the sausage — before coating the top with sour cream.)

Good night, sleep tight
Big bright sun has gone away
You know it’s gone away
Goodbye, don’t cry
Tomorrow bring us a brand new day
We can run and play

And they’ll laugh up and down the hall
Don’t go shout when you hear them fall
Let them fly right across the wall
Let them cry till the morning call
Ooooh!
Little angel dance
Little angel dance!

Big night, bright light, time now to lay them all to rest
Put them all to rest
Bad guys, mean eye all gone away to where they belong
Let’s just sing our song

And they’ll laugh up and down the hall
Don’t go shout when you hear them fall
Let them fly right across the wall
Let them cry till the morning call
Ooooh!
Little angel dance
Hey, little angel dance

Goodnight, sleep tight
Big bright sun has gone away
You know it’s gone away
Goodbye, don’t cry
Tomorrow bring us a brand new day
We can run and play

And they’ll laugh up and down the hall
Don’t go shout when you hear them fall
Let them fly right across the wall
Let them cry till the morning call
Oooh!
Little angel dance
Little angel dance!
Come on, come on and dance!
Yeah yeah yeah yeah

Little angel dance!
