The First Woman in Space
In 1963, Valentina Tereshkova became the first woman to fly in space.
When she was very young, she developed an interest in parachuting.
Through this skill, she was able to become a cosmonaut.
She spent three days aboard the Vostok 6 in June 1963.
In 2000, she received an award in London as the Greatest Woman Achiever of the Century.
