Gas Crisis Persists in Slovakia
Slovakia still did not receive any gas from Gazprom, its only supplier, on Wednesday after all supplies
were stopped on January 7.
The Russian company decided to stop the supplies following a dispute with Ukraine, a transit country for
the gas to arrive in Slovakia.
Other European gas companies have started helping Slovakia overcome this difficult period by sending
gas from their own resources.
Prime Minister Robert Fico, after visiting both Russia and Ukraine, stated that it is unfair for Slovakia to
become a victim of the Russian-Ukrainian dispute.
The EU also warned both countries that they will be considered as unreliable partners in the future if
they do not solve the situation quickly.
