On August 10, 1932, a Danish carpenter started a company that is
familiar to children all over the world.
Lego comes from Danish words which mean "play well".
In the beginning, the company made its toys from wood. In 1949, it
switched to plastic.
The company now employs 5,000 people worldwide.
