February 2 Is Groundhog Day
February 2 is Groundhog Day in the United States. It is the day that groundhog
Punxsutawney Phil comes out of the ground and decides how much longer winter will last.
If the weather is sunny and Phil sees his shadow, then there will be six more weeks of
winter, according to the tradition.
If it is cloudy and he doesn't see his shadow, then winter will soon be over.
The tradition came to America from Germany. It takes place every year in Punxsutawney,
a small town about 100 kilometers from Pittsburgh.
